VIDOSH Recognizes Worker’s Memorial Day

Every year, on April 28, VIDOSH and OSHA commemorates Workers’ Memorial Day, where we remember and honor all working men and women who lost their lives on the job. We mourn not only for those we’ve lost, but also for those left behind, including their families, coworkers, and communities. So many of these tragic losses were preventable if safety standards had been followed, proper controls were in place, or if better safety & health programs were made a priority. It is in their memory that we continue to fight for every worker’s right so that others don’t suffer the same terrible fate and for families to stay whole.

We owe it to the fallen workers, we owe it to their families, we owe it to the men and women working all across the Nation, and we owe it to future generations. Let’s not forget that some of the lives lost have indirectly impacted us and our communities in many ways. They are the men and women who built our roadways, made sure our lights stayed on and kept our homes warm, put food on our tables, taught our children, provided our families with health care, and so many other industries that we depend on. We owe it to them to ensure that their sacrifices were not in vain and that we do all that we can to ensure that workplaces are safer for future generations.
